Important changes to the timetable for the introduction of the Vetting and Barring Scheme
The Home Office has recently announced changes to the proposed timetable for the phasing in of the new Vetting and Barring Scheme with the Independent Safeguarding Authority (ISA). The scheduled application date (12 October 2009), for individuals intending to work or currently working with children and/or vulnerable adults in England, Wales and Northern Ireland has now been postponed until July 2010.
This means that July 2010 is now the earliest that people who intend to work or currently work with vulnerable clients can register with the ISA, with the actual legal requirement for registration starting in November 2010. For further information please visit the Criminal Records Bureau website and the ISA website.
