South Derbyshire’s preparations for Volunteers Week 2009 (1st – 7th June) have gathered pace in the past few days.
Saturday 6th June
Bookings are coming in for our Volunteers Week Parade and Celebration on Saturday 6th June, but we still have plenty of places available. If your organisation hasn’t yet booked its places, get in touch with Chris Wagstaff at the Volunteer Centre right away. More details of the parade are here.
The parade itself will now finish at Swadlincote Town Hall where there will be light refreshments and a chance to meet other volunteers and organisations. There will also be very limited number of spaces for stalls where organisations can set up displays, distribute leaflets and promote their own volunteering programmes. Again, details from Chris Wagstaffat the Volunteer Centre.
We are also inviting volunteer entertainers to the event. If you can juggle, belly dance or have a heavenly choir hidden under the stairs, please contact our entertainment impresario, Richard, firstname.lastname@example.org to offer your services.
Volunteers Week Certificates will also be presented to all of South Derbyshire CVS volunteers and to each organisation that takes part in the parade. We also encourage you to present certificates to your own volunteers. You can download the official 25th Anniversary Volunteers Week Certificate here.
We expect the event to have finished by lunchtime.
Friday 5th June
Not satisfied with the one local event, we will also have a stall on Swadlincote Market on Friday 5th June. This is a very popular and high profile market and will be a great opportunity to spread the word about volunteering. We are going to have Volunteer Centre staff on site all day, but we would love to share this space with other groups and share some of the staffing as well. If you are interested, contact (yes) Chris Wagstaff at the Volunteer Centre.
Whether you can commit some time to work with us or not, we would still like to have your leaflets on the stall, but you’ll have to guess who to contact here at the Volunteer Centre about these.
OK, you guessed – it’s Chris.
Look out for our next Volunteers Week Update soon, as well as more posts on this blog with job vacancies and other vital information for Volunteers and Volunteer Managers across South Derbyshire.
