This blog hasn’t, until now, been targeted exclusively at volunteer managers. However, our statistics show that we are getting quite a lot of visitors from people who are not volunteer co-ordinators or managers, so we will try featuring a few opportunities on here to see how they go.
The first of these is from Buddy Plus Mentoring, but the next one could be from your organisation. Contact us here at the Volunteer Centre with a short article and photo if you would like your opportunity here.
Young people can find the journey from childhood to adulthood a difficult one. Problems at school, at home or in the neighbourhood can sometimes become overwhelming.
Faced with such problems, to have the 1 to 1 support of another human being to listen, comfort, encourage and just to be there is what mentoring is all about.
Buddy Plus+ volunteer mentors work throughout Derbyshire and can make a real difference to a young person’s life by helping them to help themselves.
Buddy Plus+ needs more volunteer mentors in South Derbyshire, you could help to support young people and strengthen your community.
New volunteers receive four days training to prepare them for the role and ongoing support and expenses once they are matched with a young person. The next training session is 20/21 June & 4/5/ July 2009 in Chesterfield. Further training courses are planned for later in the year.
