Volunteers Week – Day 6 (Updated with photos)

Friday of Volunteers Week 2009 saw Chris and Dave from the Volunteer Centre team on Swadlincote Market where our stall and display was promoting volunteering and celebrating the work done by volunteers.

After we had arrived at 8:30 and set up, we had a steady stream of visitors to the stall, some were people that we knew already from organisations, some were already volunteering and quite a lot took away leaflets and information after they had talked to us and had their interest piqued.

One young man was so keen that he asked us to phone through to reception to book an appointment with us for next week.

We were particularly pleased that Carol from Girlguiding Derbyshire came along and spent quite a lot of time talking to potential volunteers as well. It is always good to work in partnership with any organisation that involves volunteers.

Another result from the day is that we are soon going to develop some new opportunities with some of the groups who stopped by to talk to us. This will, of course, turn into new opportunities for volunteering in South Derbyshire.
