Research into 50+ Volunteers

We’ve had a request from a researcher at Nottingham Trent University, who is carrying out some research into 50+ volunteers. He’s asking for 10 minutes of your time to complete an online survey about your own volunteer team.

My name is Eddy Hogg and I am a PhD Researcher at Nottingham Trent University, working in conjunction with Age Concern England.  My research is investigating the extent to which older people (those aged 50+, in line with Age Concern policy) are engaged in voluntary work, and what has lead to those older adults who are involved being so.  Age Concern are extremely interested in widening the participation of over 50s in voluntary work, and are keen to explore the motivations for both older people and the organisations which they engage with.

The first stage of my research involves undertaking a web-based survey of voluntary organisations, to gain a preliminary understanding of the extent to which older people are involved across the wide range of voluntary organisations.  The questionnaire is available online at;

Please go online to find out more about the ressearch and complete the questionnaire.
