Disabled People and Volunteers

Organisations here in South Derbyshire we have an enviable record of involving disabled people in volunteering. Now we are being asked to share that experience with regionally and nationally.

Dave Clough, the Volunteering Development Manager for the national charity, Vitalise, which provides short breaks (respite care) and other services for disabled people, visually impaired people, and carers, is trying to get together a few interested parties, along with volunteering infrastructure and community groups who may have an interest or expertise in disabled people and volunteering.  This group will focus on physical and sensory impairments (other groups are looking at learning disabilities),  barriers, best practice, etc.

Dave has set a provisional date for a first meeting in Nottingham on 17th September. If you would like to be there, or if you want more information, contact Dave direct:
