Volunteer Recognition

Volunteers Week is all about recognising and celebrating the great things that volunteers do all year round.  So this is a great week to catch up with a couple of news items from our partners in the county and district council about their commitment to recognising volunteers.

Derbyshire County Council

First of all, one of our local county councillors is taking soundings about whether volunteer managers would be interested in asking volunteers if they would be interested in a meal with the Chairman of County Council. No timetable as yet as we are just trying to get an idea of the amount of people. The chair may end up doing two meals if there is a great uptake on this. He just wants to thank volunteers.

If you would like your volunteers to be part of this, or if you’re a volunteer yourself, please let me know by phone, email or by leaving a comment here on the blog and I’ll feed your comments to the councillor involved.

South Derbyshire District Council

The council would like us to nominate six organisations that involve volunteers to attend EACH council meeting during this year to receive a volunteering award.  We will be certainly be seeking organisations to take part in this scheme, but if you feel that your volunteers should be recognised by South Derbyshire District Council, let me know by phone, email or by leaving a comment here on the blog.
