Disabled Young People’s Website

Disability Direct’s Enable Project works with young disabled people aged 16-25 across Derby City and Derbyshire.  The project aims to promote social inclusion and improve confidence and independence by finding new activities for people to try.

Working on the project is Young People’s Worker, Naomi Hope:

“My role is to find plenty of things to keep you busy and stop the boredom!  Whether you want to try a new sport, go to a concert, study a course or become a volunteer…I can help you find it.  Trying new things can improve your confidence, develop your life skills, help you make new friends and become more independent.”

Part of the project involved the creation of a brand new social networking website specifically for local young disabled people.

‘The Stuff’ has got information about what’s going on in your area, links to lots of other support services and message boards where you can chat to others and share ideas and experiences.  The website will be continually updated to make sure you never miss a trick.  Stuffed full of information, this is the place to check out if you’re looking for something to do!

If you have any ideas or would like to get involved with the project in any way, please don’t hesitate to get in touch.
