The “VCI Passport” provides a series of 5 half-day sessions that could be run in an evening, or even at the weekend, to suit the needs of your volunteers.
These sessions cover these important volunteering topics and skills:
- Safeguarding,
- Health & Safety,
- First Aid Introduction,
- Involving and Consulting Children & Young People,
- Equal Opportunities
There will be one set of sessions each quarter from April 2011 to March 2012 initially.
We have deliberately not yet set any dates, because we want your feedback about the best days and times to suit your own volunteers. If you’re a volunteer manager, please consult with your volunteer teams and let us know what best suits your own volunteer team.
If you’re a volunteer or you’re thinking of volunteering with children, young people or families, this will provide you with some essential skills, as well as a chance to meet other volunteers. Let us know your preferred time and dates, too.
We can’t promise to meet everyone’s preferences, but we really want this to be open to as many volunteers as possible.
Please download the VCI Passport South Derbyshire Interest Form and return a completed form to chrisw@sdcvs.org.uk for each volunteer who is interested, along with their preferred day(s) and time(s).

Hello I am the coordinater for the Independent Visitor Scheme at Doncaster council. I recruit and train the volunteers to offer a befriending service to young people in care. I am very interested in getting some form of accreditation for my volunteers and this sounds ideal.
I am not sure if we will be entitled as we are a local authority, and this often means we miss out on funding and simular things. It would be lovely to hear from you, especially if it is something I can get at no cost for my volunteers.
Thank you
Sue
Hi Sue,
I’ll respond to you properly by email, but thanks you for your interest in the VCI Passport scheme.
Regards
Dave
